His mustache gave a twitch:
“Cease your quarreling, roads of fame,
And hear the news I switch!

Botanical Parade

On the platform where vessels flow,
Radix gathered them in a row:
“Come now, strongholds of my lore,
Who will ace the exam floor?”
 
Collateral stepped out first of all,
With phloem leading, standing tall:
“I am the classic, the standard set,
The height of botanical etiquette!”
 
Bicollateral scoffed: “Don’t be absurd!
I’m the sandwich you’ve all heard!

I’m used to the alternating rhythm here,
Switching xylem and phloem, year after year!”
 
Radix smiled: “Oh, heroes of mine,
Of phloem and xylem, you look divine!
He who learns you without a doubt,
Will pass the exam with a victory shout!”
