Outstanding Achievement of the Department in 2025

In 2025, the scientific work on the topic: “Comprehensive pharmacognostic study of different types of raw materials of red oak Quercus rubra L. as sources of biologically active substances for the creation of medicines with specified properties” by a 2nd year postgraduate student – senior lecturer at the Department of Pharmaceutical and Biological Chemistry, Pharmacognosy Omelkovets T.S. received the Prize of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Young Scientists for 2025 (Resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine dated 04.12.2025 No. 4713-IX https://zakon.rada.gov.ua/laws/show/4713-20#Text).

Main directions of scientific research of the department:
– Chemotaxonomic and resource research of medicinal plants of the flora of Ukraine with the aim of identifying promising species for expanding the nomenclature of medicinal plants.
– Pharmacognostic research of promising species of medicinal plants.
– Study of the fine molecular structure of biologically active substances (BAS) using computational chemistry and physicochemical methods.
– Computer modeling and synthesis of new compounds based on known BAS.
– Development of preparative methods for the synthesis of new medicinal substances.
– Development of methods for the extraction of BAS of various natures from biological objects.
– Development of methods for the identification and quantitative determination of BAS.
– Identification and study of the patterns of relationship between the structure and pharmacological activity of known and synthesized substances.
– Development of biologically active additives (BAA) and medicinal preparations.
– Development of regulatory documents for promising medicinal plant raw materials and preparations.
