FIGS (dried)
        Dried figs, like fresh figs, contain small amounts of vitamins (dried figs are quite rich in vitamin K: 100 g contains 13.0% of the daily requirement), but are characterized by a high content of many macro- and microelements: boron (400.0% of the daily requirement in 100 g), silicon (296.7%), chromium (138.0%), rubidium (96.0%), nickel (86.7%), potassium (33.8%), manganese (26.9%), copper (26.5%), thallium (25.0%), vanadium (24.3%), cobalt (22.0%), magnesium (20.0%), molybdenum (19.0%), calcium (16.6%), iron (15.0%), phosphorus (10.1%), lithium (9.5%).
     Figs are rich in phytosterols (100 g contains 89.5% of the daily requirement), predominantly beta-sitosterol (36.0%) and delta-5-avenasterol (= fucosterol) (21.9%), which allows dried figs (unlike fresh figs) to be classified as a women’s product (for more details, see avocado), carbohydrates (18.3%), namely monosaccharides and disaccharides (109.8%), among which glucose (in 100 g – 247.9% of the daily norm) and fructose (65.5%), as well as pectin (110.0%) and fiber (39.2%); it contains starch (5.1 g per 100 g) and small amounts of sucrose (0.07 g).
     The total purine base content in 100 g is 16.7% of the daily norm.
     It should be noted that figs can accumulate significant amounts of the toxic ultra-trace element thallium (25.0% of the daily requirement per 100 g).
     An interesting observation by scientists is that animals in tropical and subtropical forests that regularly feed on fruit (mammals and birds) prefer to eat dried figs, even when other food is abundant. It is believed that this is due to the high calcium content, which is quite rare in fruits.
