Tangerine

Tangerine (Mandarin)
Tangerine fruits (Citrus reticulata), analogous to orange fruits, are characterized by a relatively high concentration of ascorbic acid (38.1% of the Daily Value [DV] per 100 g); however, this concentration is lower than that observed in oranges (59.0% DV). Furthermore, they exhibit a relatively limited profile of other vitamins.
Regarding the mineral profile, tangerines and orange fruits exhibit significant similarities, with the most substantial variances identified in the concentrations of molybdenum (tangerines exceed oranges in molybdenum content by a factor of 90), cobalt (tangerines are 14 times richer in cobalt than oranges), and lithium (oranges possess 7 times the lithium concentration of tangerines). Additionally, oranges contain slightly higher levels of copper (1.7-fold) and potassium (1.6-fold).
Tangerine fruits possess a high concentration of boron (200.0% DV), cobalt (141.0%), molybdenum (90.1%), rubidium (63.0%), silicon (20.0%), and vanadium (18.0%).
Tangerines are distinguished by their total phytosterol concentration (67.2% DV, compared to 44.0% in oranges). They also approximate oranges in the mono- and disaccharide fraction (15.0%), within which glucose serves as the primary sugar (21.3% DV; compared to 25.0% in oranges). However, they contain a lower concentration of dietary fiber (7.2%; whereas oranges contain 12.0%).
Analogous to oranges, tangerines do not contain starch. Conversely, they contain significant quantities of sucrose, nearly twice the concentration found in oranges (6.05 g per 100 g, compared to 3.5 g in oranges).
The total purine base content per 100 g for both tangerines and oranges is identical, constituting 6.7% of the daily allowance.
